Newspaper Map for Armchair Travelers

If you are an “armchair traveler” (someone who likes to read and learn about faraway places), you will love Newspaper Map . Newspaper Map, “The World’s Largest Newspaper Site,”  is a tool that allows you to read online newspapers from all over the world. It’s a lot of fun, it’s free, and it can be a great language-learning tool, too.

Go to newspapermap.com and select an English newspaper. (The yellow markers on the map represent English-language papers.) There are hundreds to choose from!

There are three different ways to select a paper: 1) You can click on one of the yellow markers to make your selection, 2) You can use the “find a newspaper” search box in the top right corner to look for newspapers in a geographical area, or 3) You can use the search box to search for a specific newspaper by name.

Look through the newspaper and read as much as you can. Then use the translation function to read it in your own language. The translator makes mistakes, but it’s good enough to let you check your comprehension. Don’t rely on it to teach you how to say something in English, but use it to check your understanding.

Using Newspaper Map, you can travel all over the world without leaving your chair!
