Lego – To Infinity and Beyond!

This adorable little Buzz Lightyear is the work of Angus MacLane. As you probably know, Buzz Lightyear is a character in the Toy Story movie series. He always says, “To infinity and beyond!” meaning that there is no limit to where he can go and what he can do.

Mr. MacLane is one of the animators at Pixar, the studio that created the Toy Story movies, so he knows the Buzz Lightyear character very well. Maybe that’s why he is able to create an instantly recognizable caricature using Lego bricks.  The Lego version is very different from the “real” Buzz, but it captures his likeness and personality.

Mr. MacLane has made hundreds of these figures, which he calls CubeDudes. In addition to Pixar characters, there are other movie characters, superheroes, and celebrities in the collection. Each one has a 3-inch by 3-inch cube for a head. The bodies are small in relation to their heads, so the CubeDudes have a comical appearance. Read more about Mr. MacLane and view a slideshow of some of his CubeDudes here.

This is the end of my Lego series. I’m a little sad to say goodbye to Lego, but it’s time to move on to other things. If you missed the other Lego posts, they are: Lego Forever! , Lego - The Art of the Brick, An Intrepid Lego Model, and Lego Freestyle.

Before we go, here are a few more links to amazing Lego creations that prove that just like Buzz Lightyear, Lego has no limits. To infinity and beyond!

A yummy waffle with syrup; an electric guitar; a race car; Lego home repair; and a Lego home!

And finally, Lego animation!
